Diplomatic Legal Hub Supports BUCC Reception on Ukraine’s Green Reconstruction

By Scott Douglas Jacobsen
Independent Journalist and DLH Coordinator

How did the Diplomatic Legal Hub participate in the British Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce’s August 20, 2026 networking reception, and how does the event reflect the developing BUCC-DLH professional partnership?

Event Overview

The British Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (BUCC) hosted its August Networking Reception on Thursday, August 20, 2026. It was part of BUCC’s ongoing networking and professional-community programme in Ukraine. The networking reception combined a specialist presentation with networking among Ukrainian, British, and other international professionals.

DLH Participation and BUCC Cooperation

Diplomatic Legal Hub was a sponsor alongside Capturiant. The reception sponsorship formed part of ongoing cooperation between the Diplomatic Legal Hub and the BUCC. It is intended to connect commercial, diplomatic, legal, and professional communities.

John Jones, Co-Chair of the BUCC Advisory Management Council, described the relationship in terms of helping BUCC members understand the diplomatic, legal, and regulatory context in Ukraine. It is an environment in which British, Ukrainian, and international professionals can build business and professional relationships. Jones emphasized that BUCC seeks to introduce people across business and professional networks. Within that framework, DLH contributes legal, diplomatic, and regulatory expertise.

Cross-Border Professional Cooperation

The August reception was a practical setting for cooperation involving BUCC, DLH, and other participants within the chamber’s wider professional network. I provided a briefing on the work and activities of the DLH at the event. The BUCC-DLH relationship is intended to develop a practical cross-border dimension. DLH may help British businesses operating in Ukraine understand Ukrainian legal, regulatory, and professional conditions.

Ted Kronmiller and Eco-Industrial Parks

The principal speaker was Ted Kronmiller, Managing Director, Financial Institutions, at Capturiant. His work includes capital markets, climate finance, and institutional risk management. He has participated in BUCC events before to discuss green finance.

The presentation was “Eco Industrial Parks for Ukraine’s Green Economic Renaissance: From Linear to Exponential Economic Revival.” Kronmiller presented eco-industrial parks as one possible component of Ukraine’s long-term economic reconstruction. Kronmiller noted the need for industrial development with sustainable infrastructure, which could be supported through private capital, climate finance, and alignment with European regulations.

Reconstruction Finance and Investment

The presentation framed reconstruction as an opportunity to modernize Ukraine’s industrial base. The key issue is that Ukraine needs investment on a scale that will require a combination of private investment, public funding, and international assistance. Kronmiller’s broader argument was financial: Ukraine’s reconstruction requires public expenditure and international assistance alongside private investment, incentives, and alignment with European regulatory standards.

Professional Networking and Reconstruction

The event brought together professional communities to network and reflect on reconstruction finance.
